Westlake Receives Safety and Environmental Awards from the Vinyl Institute

Vinyl Operations at Calvert City, KY and Geismar, LA recognized

Houston, December, 6 2012 -- Westlake Chemical Corporation (NYSE: WLK) announced today it has received several safety and environmental awards from the Vinyl Institute for outstanding performance in 2011 and 2012. The awards were presented to company representatives during the Vinyl Institute's recent 2012 Annual Meeting.

The awards for the Calvert City, Kentucky, operations include 2011 and 2012 Safety Performance Awards for Zero OSHA recordable injuries in the PVC unit, 2011 Zero OSHA recordable injuries in the EDC/VCM unit and a 2012 Environmental Honor Award for Environmental Performance in the PVC unit.

The awards received for the Geismar, Louisiana, operations include 2011 and 2012 Safety Performance Awards for Zero OSHA recordable injuries in the PVC unit.
