Westlake Receives Safety Recognition from NPRA

May 1, 2003 - Houston, TX -- The National Petroleum Refiners Association (NPRA) recently recognized The Westlake Group's petrochemical operations in Lake Charles, LA for achievements in safety at its 2003 National Environmental and Safety Conference held in New Orleans. The Westlake Petrochemical Complex was given Awards for Safety Achievement for working over 2 million hours without a lost time accident for the Three Year period from April of 1999 to April 2002. Westlake Styrene received recognition for Four Years without a lost time accident during the period of March 1998 to March 2002. And Westlake Polymers was awarded for Two Years without a lost time accident during the period of October 2000 to October 2002.

Westlake's operations in Lake Charles are certified as Star Sites by OHSA in recognition of their high achievements and standards of safety excellence.
