Houston, Texas – October 10, 2016 – Westlake Chemical Corporation (NYSE: WLK), the Houston-based international manufacturer and supplier of petrochemicals, polymers and building products, is recognizing its 30th year of business with celebrations at all of its locations beginning today. In addition to these celebrations, each of the company's global locations recognized the anniversary year with a volunteer activity during the month of April.  In total, during April, Westlake employees volunteered approximately 2,000 hours of service to their local communities. 

Following three decades of success in Asia, the "Chao Group," led by Mr. T.T. Chao, Westlake's founder, along with his sons James Chao and Albert Chao, Westlake's current Chairman and President & CEO, respectively, purchased a shutdown polyethylene plant in Lake Charles, Louisiana and brought it back to life.  The plant first started producing polyethylene in 1986.  From that beginning, Westlake has grown and now has approximately 9,000 employees and operates on three continents, including plants in the United States (27); Canada (6); Germany (5); China (1); Taiwan (1); United Kingdom (1); and India (1).  The company produces almost 40 billion pounds of products annually, generating, on a pro forma basis $7.8 billion of revenue in 2015.
